2026 Oregon State Senate election

The 2026 Oregon Senate election will be held on November 3, 2026, alongside the other 2026 United States elections. Voters will elect half the members of the Oregon Senate in the U.S. state of Oregon to serve a four-year term.

Disqualification

Due to the 2023 Oregon Senate walkout, these Republican Senators are barred from running for state legislative office in this election under Ballot Measure 113:
  1. Sen. Cedric Ross Hayden from District 6
  2. Sen. Kim Thatcher from District 11
  3. Sen. Suzanne Weber from District 16
Additionally, Daniel Bonham would have been disqualified for running for legislative office; however, he resigned his seat in October 2025 to take up a job in the federal government. Christine Drazan was appointed to finish the rest of his term, and is running for the governorship of Oregon instead of a full senate term.

Electoral system

The 15 members of the Senate up for election were elected from single-member districts via first-past-the-post voting for four-year terms.
Contested nominations of recognized major parties for each district are determined by a primary election on May 19, 2026.
Minor party candidates are nominated by petition. Write-in candidates must file a request with the Secretary of State's office for votes for them to be counted. Candidates for the state Senate in 2026 are required to file to run from September 11, 2025, to March 10, 2026.
