1985 Sugar Bowl
The 1985 Sugar Bowl was the 51st edition of the college football bowl game, played at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Tuesday, January 1. Part of the 1984–85 bowl game season, it matched the 1984 [NCAA Division I-A football rankings|fifth-ranked] 1984 [Nebraska Cornhuskers football team|Nebraska Cornhuskers] of the Big Eight Conference and the #11 1984 [LSU Tigers football team|LSU Tigers] of the Southeastern Conference. In the second quarter, Tiger running back Dalton Hilliard scored on a two-yard touchdown run and LSU Nebraska quarterback Craig Sundberg threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to I-back Doug DuBose as Nebraska closed the gap to at the half.
