1945 Manchester City Council election


Elections to Manchester City Council were held on Thursday, 1 November 1945. One third of the councillors seats were up for election, with each successful candidate to serve a three-year term of office. The council remained under no overall control. These were the first local elections held in Manchester since the outbreak of the Second World War.

Aldermanic election, 9 November 1945

Caused by the death on 25 October 1945 of Alderman Annie Lee.
In her place, Councillor William Oldfield was elected as an alderman by the council on 9 November 1945.

Caused by the death on 26 April 1946 of Alderman Thomas Ackroyd.
In his place, Councillor Andrew Cathcart was elected as an alderman by the council on 5 June 1946.
