Following the death of Alderman William Hall Jowett, Councillor James Lister was elected as an alderman on 9 November 1908.

The resignation of Alderman William James Burgess
was reported to the Council on 6 October 1909.
In his place, Councillor Arthur Crosthwaite was elected as an alderman by the Council on 27 October 1909.
