The imperial election of 1764 was an imperial election held to select the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. It took place in Frankfurt on 27 March.

The 1764 imperial election, held on 27 March 1764 in Frankfurt, unanimously elected Joseph II as King of the Romans. The Golden Bull of 1356 established seven prince-electors with the right to vote: three ecclesiastical electors and four secular electors.

Aftermath

Joseph came to the throne on the death of his father on 18 August 1765.
