Rackerby, California


Rackerby is a census-designated place straddling the border between Butte County and Yuba County in California. It is north-northeast of Marysville, at an elevation of. Rackerby's population was 210 at the 2020 census.

History

Rackerby post office opened in 1892 in Yuba County, moved to Butte County in 1930, and moved back in 1934. The name is in honor of William M. Rackerby, its first postmaster.

The 2020 [United States census] reported that Rackerby had a population of 210. The population density was. The racial makeup of Rackerby was 176 White, 1 African American, 4 Native Americans in [the United States|Native American], 2 Asian, 0 Pacific Islander, 2 from other races, and 25 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 22 persons.
The whole population lived in households. There were 94 households, out of which 34 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 35 were married-couple households, 8 were cohabiting couple households, 30 had a female householder with no partner present, and 21 had a male householder with no partner present. 24 households were one person, and 14 were one person aged 65 or older.
