Kenneth J. David
Kenneth J. David is a retired United States Army soldier who received the Medal of Honor on 3 January 2025 for his actions on 7 May 1970 during the Vietnam War.
Early life
He was born on 21 January 1950, and grew up in Girard, Ohio. Active in the Boy Scouts, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.Military career
He was drafted and entered the Army in August, 1969 and received basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, then advanced training at Fort Polk, Louisiana.He was deployed to South Vietnam in January 1970, joining Company D, 1st Battalion, 506th [Infantry Regiment (United States)|506th Infantry Regiment], 101st Airborne Division.
After being wounded in action on 7 May 1970 at Firebase Maureen, he was moved to Valley Forge General Hospital in Pennsylvania. For his actions he was awarded the Distinguished [Service Cross (United States)|Distinguished Service Cross].
