William Philipson

William Philipson (6 December 1911 – 28 March 1997) is a New Zealand botanist, writer, explorer, botanical collector, academic, and scientific collector. He was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. He died in Greytown.

He was educated at University of Cambridge, University of London, Dame Allan's School, Durham University, and Downing College. This person's employers include University of Canterbury, Kew Gardens, British Museum, and Birkbeck, University of London. Awards received include Fellow of the Royal Society Te Apārangi and Fellow of the Linnean Society of London.
