FractMus

FractMus is a freeware algorithmic music generator program developed and maintained by Spanish pianist and composer Gustavo Díaz-Jerez. It has been primarily used by composers, performers, software designers, researchers and artists for creating music.

Overview

FractMus employs twelve algorithms for pitch-generation drawn from number theory, chaotic dynamics, cellular automata, noise, and randomness. It offers a set of tools to assist the compositional process. These include a data randomizer and a composition "wizard", among others. Compositions can be saved to a standard MIDI file for later refinement in a sequencer program or music editor.
